Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Box 5 (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

Description of Service

Box 5 is a flashcard application that helps users learn and memorize information using the Leitner spaced repetition system.

The App allows you to:

• Create and organize flashcard decks
• Add text and images to flashcards
• Study using the 5-box Leitner system with daily review mode
• Track your learning progress and statistics
• Maintain study streaks and achievements
• Export and import your flashcard data
• Generate flashcards using AI from text, audio recordings, images, and PDF documents (Box 5 Pro)

No Account Required

Box 5 does not require you to create an account. All your data is stored locally on your device, giving you complete privacy and control.

User Responsibility: You are responsible for backing up your data. We recommend using the export feature regularly to create backups of your flashcards and progress.

Subscription Plans

Box 5 Pro is a paid subscription that unlocks AI Card Generation and other premium features. It is available in the following plans: Weekly, Monthly, and Yearly.

• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
• You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings.
• No refunds are provided for unused portions of a subscription period, except where required by applicable law.
• Prices are as displayed in the App and may vary by region. We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with advance notice provided through the App.
• A free trial may be offered at our discretion. Unused trial time is forfeited when a paid subscription is purchased.

AI-Generated Content

Box 5 Pro includes an AI Card Generation feature that creates flashcard content based on input you provide (text, audio, images, or PDFs).

• You are responsible for all content you submit for AI processing. Do not submit content that is confidential, personally sensitive, unlawful, or that you are not permitted to share with third-party AI services.
• AI-generated flashcards are provided for convenience only. We make no guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of AI-generated content for any particular purpose. Always review generated cards before using them for study.
• You own the flashcards generated from your content once they are saved to your device.
• We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue AI features at any time.

User Content

Ownership: You retain ownership of all flashcards, decks, and other content you create ("User Content"). Your content is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers except when using AI features.

Content Guidelines: You agree not to create or submit content that infringes on intellectual property rights, contains illegal material, or is harmful, abusive, or harassing.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes. You shall not:

• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App or its systems
• Use the App to transmit harmful code or malware
• Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Use automated systems to access the App without permission
• Use the AI features to generate illegal, harmful, or infringing content

Intellectual Property

Our Property: The App, including its design, features, and content (excluding User Content), is owned by Box 5 and protected by intellectual property laws.

Trademarks: "Box 5," the Box 5 logo, and "Boxy" mascot are our trademarks. You may not use these without our written permission.

Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services. Your use of the App may be subject to their respective terms and privacy policies:

• Expo (expo.dev) — app development platform
• PostHog (posthog.com) — product analytics and application monitoring
• OpenAI (openai.com) — AI-powered flashcard generation from text and images
• Deepgram (deepgram.com) — audio transcription for AI card generation
• RevenueCat (revenuecat.com) — in-app subscription management
• Amazon Web Services (aws.amazon.com) — API backend and temporary file storage

Disclaimers

The App is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that the App will meet your specific requirements.

The App is a study tool. We make no guarantees about learning outcomes or academic results.

AI-generated content may be inaccurate or incomplete. We are not responsible for any decisions made based on AI-generated flashcards.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Box 5 shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or interruption of service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the past 12 months (if any).

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Box 5 and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, your User Content, or content you submit for AI processing.

Termination

By You: You may stop using the App at any time. Simply uninstall the App from your device. Your data will be removed from your device when you delete the app. Cancel your subscription through your App Store or Google Play account before uninstalling to avoid further charges.

By Us: We reserve the right to discontinue the App or restrict access to certain features at any time.

Effect of Termination: Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately. Provisions that should survive termination (such as Limitation of Liability) will remain in effect.

Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes through the App. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Box 5 regarding the App.
